To import student data into Larson's Prealgebra and/or Larson's Algebra 1:

  1. Log on to the Classroom Management System (CMS).
  2. Click Utilities.
  3. Click Create/Delete Student Record.
  4. Click Import Student Data.
  5. Click the "Import From" box.
  6. Select the product from which to import student data.
  7. Click Select Path.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to locate the appropriate file. If the on-screen instructions are not visible, move the dialog box that opened, because it may be covering the instructions that are on the CMS screen.
  9. Locate the specified file, and click Open.
  10. Click the "Import Class" box.
  11. Select the class from which to import student data files.
  12. Click the "Class" box.
  13. Select the destination class to which the student data files will be imported. The students will be imported into a class of the teacher that is logged on to the CMS.
  14. Click Import Data.

The data that is imported for each student is the student's name, password, passing grade, and topic progress. Specific progress detail will not be retained. The student will now be "Placed Out" in all of the topics that were previously completed, so he/she will not have to complete them again. However, his/her old scores will not be visible.

When data is imported from Algebra 1 with Review, the Pre-Test, Post-Test, Career, and Notebook data will also be imported.

For more information about importing student data, refer to the Teacher's Resource Guide. A printed version of the guide is distributed with each product. An electronic version is also available. Use the Documentation menu to learn how to access the electronic version.
