QUESTION:
How can I find out where the program and student data files are on the server?

ANSWER:
The path of the installation is documented in the preference file for each workstation. To check the preference file, do the following:

  1. Log on to a workstation where the student program is installed.
  2. Find the program folder on the local hard drive. This folder is entitled by the name of the product.
  3. Open the program folder.
  4. Open the folder entitled "prefs."
  5. Open the preferences file with a simple text editor.
  6. The value for "gExtDataPath" or "gPath" contains the path to the program files on the network.
  7. The value for "gStatPath" or "gIndexFilePath" contains the path to the student data files on the server.

If the workstations have not yet been installed, check with the person who installed the program to the server to find out where he/she put the program files. The student data folder is not created until the first student program workstation is installed.
