QUESTION:
Can students graduate between grades?

ANSWER:
Students can graduate between grades. You can use the Graduate Class Lists utility in the Classroom Management System (CMS) to graduate the entire class to the next grade level.

  1. Make sure that no students are logged on to the student program.
  2. Log on to the CMS.
  3. Select the grade that the students are currently in.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Utilities.
  6. Click Graduate Class Lists.
  7. Click Select Class List(s).
  8. Select the name of the class that you would like to graduate in the "Please select a class list name." box. It is possible to select multiple classes.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Select New Grade.
  11. Select the grade level that the students are graduating to in the "Choose a grade:" box.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click Yes if the current students are to remain at the original grade level. If not, click No.
  14. Click Finish.
  15. To view the new students, restart the CMS and choose the new grade level.

When a class is graduated to a new grade level, the CMS creates a new class list called "Unassigned Students." All of the new students transferred to the new grade level are initially assigned to the "Unassigned Students" class list.

When the new student records are created in the new grade level with the Graduate Class Lists utility, they do not contain any of the student tracking data from the original grade level.

For more information on graduating students, refer to the Teacher's Resource Guide. A printed version of the guide is distributed with each product. An electronic version is also available. Use the Documentation menu to learn how to access the electronic version.
