ISSUE:
Running the program causes the error message, "Program files are missing. Check that the network drive where Larson's Math Series program was installed is mounted."
SYMPTOM:
- Attempting to log on to the student program or Classroom Management System (CMS) causes the error message.
RESOLUTION:
- This error can occur if program folders on the network server have been moved, deleted, or renamed. Check to see that the program folder actually exists in the location where the program is trying to find it.
- Open an application used for finding files and folders.
- Windows® - Navigate to the file using "My Computer". Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.
- Macintosh® - Double-click the appropriate mounted sharepoint.
- Locate the "Larson Math Series" folder on the network server.
- Within this folder, search for the movies and casts folders.
- If the folders are on the server but are not within the "lmsprog" folder, move them into that folder.
- If the folders are not on the server, reinstall the program to the network server. Installation instructions are included in the documentation that was sent with the software or can be found using the Documentation menu above.
- The network drive on which the program files are installed must be mapped/mounted on the desktop of each workstation. If it is not, then this error will occur. The drive must be mapped/mounted before using the program. Use the links below to find out how to map/mount network drives.
Larson Learning Inc. is in no way affiliated with any of these sites and cannot guarantee the accuracy of the content contained therein.
- The drive/sharepoint must be mapped/mounted such that students and teachers will access that drive/sharepoint in the same way as the person who installed the program.
For example, if the person who installs the program has access to all files and folders on a certain partition of a server and teachers and students only have access to a "Larson" folder on that server partition, then the path that the program will use to find the program files on the network will include extra path information that will prohibit the program from working when a teacher or student tries to run it. Looking at the examples below, it is clear that the program as run by the teacher or student will not be able to find the application files it needs since the path is incomplete.
Person who installed the program:
L:\Application Information\Larson\Larson Math Series\lmsprog\
Teacher or student:
L:\Larson\Larson Math Series\lmsprog\
