ISSUE:
Running the program causes the error message, "Unable to open file ‘[path to file]filename’ because it is already open with write permission by another user", where "[path to file]" is the path to a program file on the server, and "filename" is the name of the file.

SYMPTOMS:

RESOLUTION:
This error message occurs when users have too many permissions (rights) to movie and cast files on the network. The files within the movies and casts folders need to have read only access for all users. Ask your network administrator to check the user permissions and/or file attributes on the files to ensure that users do not have too many permissions. If file attributes or user permissions are changed, it may be necessary to reboot the server in order for the change to be applied.

If the files have the appropriate file-attributes and/or user permissions, verify that all users have the same permissions to the files. One or more users may have different permissions than other users.

Use the links below to find out how to set and change file attributes and user permissions.
